Assessment System for MBBS Students
The evaluation of MBBS students in Bangladesh is rigorous and continuous.

Formative Assessments: Attendance, class tests, oral exams (viva), assignments, card exams.
Weightage added to final professional exam results.

Professional Examinations: Conducted by the affiliating university (BUP for NMCC).
Written (essay & MCQs), practical/clinical, and viva voce. Students must pass each component separately.

Internal Assessments: Departmental evaluations to monitor student progress and encourage consistent study habits.

Grading: Pass marks are generally 60%. Distinctions are awarded for outstanding performance.
Assessment Guidelines

In-course (Item/Card/Term) and end-course (Professional) assessments are conducted in each phase of the course.

Formative assessment includes results of item, card, term exams, and class attendance.

10% of written exam marks for each paper are allocated for formative assessment.

20% of marks are allocated for MCQs (20 questions). MCQ answers are submitted in separate scripts.

70% of marks in each paper are allocated for SAQs.

Oral examination is structured.

OSPE/OSCE will assess skills and competencies. Traditional long & short cases will also be used.

Each phase ends with a phase-final professional examination.
Eligibility for Professional Examination

Certificate from respective Heads of Departments confirming 75% attendance in theory, practical, tutorial, RFP, and clinical placements.

At least 60% marks in examinations.

Students must pass all subjects from previous professional examinations.
System of Examinations
Examinations are conducted through written, oral, and practical/clinical components.

Compulsory Rotating Internship
After completing the five-year MBBS program, graduates must undergo a one-year compulsory rotating internship.

3 Months: Medicine and allied specialties.

3 Months: Surgery, Orthopedics, Anesthesiology.

3 Months: Obstetrics & Gynecology with Pediatrics.
-
3 Months: Community Medicine, Emergency, and allied subjects.
Objective: To develop hands-on clinical skills under supervision.
Certification: Internship completion is mandatory for BMDC registration as a medical practitioner.
