Academic Calendar of Medical Colleges in Bangladesh

The BMDC-prescribed MBBS program follows a yearly academic calendar with structured teaching and examinations.

• Teaching Period: 36–40 weeks per year (excluding vacations and examinations).
• Examinations: Professional examinations are conducted at the end of each phase.
• Vacations: Summer, Winter, and Eid holidays.
• Class Hours: Average 30–36 hours per week, including lectures, tutorials, laboratory work, and clinical rotations.

Example Calendar (Year 1)

• 32 weeks of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry classes.
• Practical and laboratory work conducted every week.
• Periodic assessments including class tests and card examinations.
• Block postings in hospital observation from the second year onward.
